For itemizers, this estimate applies the 2026 charitable-contribution floor of 0.5% of contribution base.
Enter only the deductible amount after any applicable floor or limit.

How the SALT comparison works

The calculator limits state and local income or sales taxes plus property taxes to the applicable 2026 cap. For higher-income taxpayers, it reduces the cap by 30% of MAGI above the statutory threshold, without going below the statutory floor.

It then compares itemized deductions with the 2026 standard deduction and estimates ordinary federal income tax under the old $10,000 cap and the 2026 cap. The result isolates the estimated effect of the higher SALT cap.

Important: This is an educational estimate, not tax advice. It does not calculate alternative minimum tax, itemized-deduction limitations outside the inputs, capital-gain rates, credits, state tax or transaction-specific eligibility.
