OBBBA Tax Savings Calculator 2026

UNITED STATES · TAX YEAR 2026

OBBBA Tax Savings Calculator

Estimate the federal income-tax effect of the temporary deductions for qualified tips, qualified overtime compensation, eligible seniors and qualified passenger-vehicle loan interest.

Try an example:

1. Filing details and income

Use estimated 2026 figures. This tool calculates ordinary federal income tax before credits.

Interest, taxable benefits and other ordinary income.
Exclude the tips and overtime entered below.

2. Qualified overtime compensation

The deduction generally covers only the FLSA-required premium above the regular rate, not all overtime wages.

3. Qualified tips

Use only voluntary cash or charged tips from an occupation that qualifies under IRS rules.

4. Enhanced deduction for seniors

A separate temporary deduction of up to $6,000 for each eligible person age 65 or older.

5. Qualified car-loan interest

For an eligible new personal-use vehicle purchased with a qualifying loan after 2024 and finally assembled in the United States.

How this estimate works

The tool estimates 2026 modified adjusted gross income, applies the selected standard or itemized deduction, then calculates ordinary federal income tax twice: before and after the eligible OBBBA deductions. The difference is the estimated income-tax saving.

  • Qualified-tip and qualified-overtime deductions are capped and reduced above the applicable MAGI threshold.
  • The senior deduction is calculated per eligible person and reduced by the statutory income phase-out.
  • Qualified car-loan interest is capped at $10,000 and reduced above its MAGI threshold.
  • Credits, alternative minimum tax, capital-gain rates, self-employment tax and state taxes are excluded.
